Official BMW TechInfo attachment. Treat each row as evidence for BMW's published code description only, not as a complete diagnostic test plan or proof that the code applies to every BMW engine/module/software generation. The direct attachment can move or disappear; SIB B12 32 14 is retained below as BMW's companion provenance for the list.
Open official source →BMW SIB B12 32 14 — BMW-specific P/U-code lookup context
BMW of North America, LLC
BMW service bulletin explaining that BMW-specific P/U codes should be read with a generic scan tool, looked up in BMW's SAE P-code attachment and matched back to the stored BMW fault before continuing diagnosis.
Copyright BMW of North America, LLC. Public NHTSA-hosted copy; link only and do not mirror as WrenchGuide content.
Useful provenance for BMW's P/U-code list and an explicit reminder that the P/U code is a diagnostic clue that must be mapped back to the vehicle fault, not treated as a parts order.
Open official source →BMW SIB B07 03 14 — Stored fault codes linked to repeat repair visits
BMW of North America, LLC
BMW bulletin identifying stored faults that were associated with repeat repair visits across E-series vehicles, including E90/E91/E92/E93, and directing technicians to complete the applicable ISTA test plan and follow its recommendations.
Copyright BMW of North America, LLC. Public NHTSA-hosted copy; link only and do not mirror the bulletin.
The bulletin establishes BMW's published description and the need to diagnose the listed stored code. It does not prove that every listed code applies to every engine/module combination inside every chassis named by the bulletin.
Open official source →BMW SIB B12 55 06 — N54 high-pressure fuel diagnosis
BMW of North America, LLC
BMW diagnostic bulletin for N54 DME faults 29DC, 29F2 and 2FBF, including associated 29F1 and misfire faults, customer symptoms, possible causes and a staged low/high-pressure fuel-system diagnostic procedure.
Copyright BMW of North America, LLC. Public NHTSA-hosted copy; link only and do not mirror the bulletin.

Open official source →BMW SIB B12 14 12 — VANOS/camshaft faults and VANOS gear bolts
BMW of North America, LLC
BMW bulletin listing E-series VANOS and camshaft-position DME fault descriptions for affected E90/E91/E92/E93 vehicles, along with the documented rattling/power-loss complaint pattern and VANOS gear-bolt failure context.
Copyright BMW of North America, LLC. Public NHTSA-hosted copy; link only and do not mirror or redistribute the bulletin.
October 2014 revision. E90/E91/E92/E93 are listed with production coverage from 09/2009 to 04/2012; the bulletin subject names N51/N52K/N52T/N55. Its six-digit 130xxx/164xxx fault-code group is separately scoped to F07/F10/F12/F13/F25 and must not be treated as E9x applicability merely because the same bulletin contains E-series codes.
Open official source →BMW TechInfo Service Roundtable — N52/N52K cold-climate crankcase ventilation and throttle faults
BMW of North America, LLC
BMW TechInfo Service Roundtable material documenting N52/N52K cold-climate crankcase-ventilation moisture/freezing, throttle obstruction and DME faults 2D09, 2CED and 2CEC, including inspection and conditional throttle-replacement guidance.
Copyright BMW of North America, LLC. Link to the official BMW TechInfo-hosted document; do not mirror or redistribute it without permission.
Use only for the documented N52/N52K low-ambient-temperature scenario. BMW states that moisture in the oil separator/hoses can freeze, that ice can obstruct the throttle while the vehicle is stationary, and that throttle replacement in this path is conditional on actual corrosion. NHTSA communication metadata independently indexes SI B12 01 08 / communication 10025573 for the same N52 EDK fault trio on E90/E91 and E60/E61 vehicles produced up to 11/2005.
Open official source →BMW SIB B11 09 19 — N55 FC 28A0 / 101F01 throttle-valve opening angle
BMW of North America, LLC
BMW technical service bulletin for N55 fault codes 28A0 and 101F01, including post-programming/battery-reset adaptation handling and a staged diagnostic path for crankcase-pressure, induction and crankcase-ventilation leaks.
Copyright BMW of North America, Inc. Public NHTSA-hosted copy; link only and do not mirror or redistribute the bulletin.
June 2019 BMW bulletin. It applies to the listed N55 models including E90/E92/E93. BMW distinguishes faults that appear after programming or battery reset from customer-complaint faults, requires adaptation first in the former case, and explicitly says not to replace the DME. Use the source's staged diagnostic logic rather than treating either code as a throttle-body parts order.
Open official source →BMW SIB B11 06 16 — Eccentric-shaft sensor faults and oil contamination
BMW of North America, LLC
BMW technical service bulletin for N51/N52/N52K/N52T eccentric-shaft sensor plausibility faults 2A37 and 2A47, documenting rough-running/no-start/CEL complaints and an oil-contamination inspection path from the VVT sensor connector to the DME harness connector.
Copyright BMW of North America, Inc. Public NHTSA-hosted copy; link only and do not mirror or redistribute the bulletin.
May 2016 BMW bulletin. It lists E90/E91/E92/E93 among the affected N51/N52-family vehicles. The source makes its parts-replacement branches conditional on confirmed oil contamination: no oil at the VVT connector means the bulletin does not apply and the applicable ISTA test plan should be followed. Code 134E08 in the same bulletin is explicitly F10/F25 only and is not E9x applicability.
Open official source →BMW SIB B13 04 09 — N54 cold-start rough running with misfire faults
BMW of North America, LLC
BMW technical service bulletin for reproducible N54 cold-start rough running with DME misfire faults including 29C0, 29CC, 29CF and 29D0-29D2, documenting the wet-plug/carbon-deposit inspection context and a possible high-pressure-injector leakage or spray-pattern cause.
Copyright BMW of North America, Inc. Public NHTSA-hosted copy; link only and do not mirror or redistribute the bulletin.
February 2013 revision. The listed vehicle scope is E82/E88/E89/E90/E92/E93/E60/E61 with N54 produced up to 09/2008. WrenchGuide uses this bulletin only for the documented reproducible cold-start complaint path; it does not generalise injector replacement to every occurrence of these misfire codes or to later production without separate evidence.
Open official source →BMW SIB B24 01 08 — ZF 6HP EGS FC 4F81 diagnosis
BMW of North America, LLC
BMW service information for EGS fault 4F81 (ratio monitoring, clutch A), sometimes accompanied by 507B/507C/507D, with an E9x ZF 6HP diagnostic path that checks fluid level before inspecting the Mechatronic adapter seal.
Copyright BMW of North America, Inc. Publicly accessible copy of the BMW bulletin; link only and do not mirror or redistribute it.
October 2010 revision. For E90/E91/E92/E93, BMW limits the bulletin to N52K or N54 vehicles with ZF 6HP19TU (6HP21) or 6HP19X TU from SOP through 02/2008. The 507B/507C/507D faults are described as subsequent faults that can accompany 4F81 in this condition; do not treat them as standalone proof of a parking-gear component failure.
Open official source →BMW SIB B65 69 06 — E90/E91 MRS5 FC 93EB airbag warning
BMW of North America, LLC
BMW technical service bulletin for E90/E91 MRS5 fault 93EB with the red airbag warning lamp illuminated, including the exact production-date range and a harness-first diagnostic branch before MRS replacement.
Copyright BMW of North America, Inc. Public NHTSA-hosted copy; link only and do not mirror or redistribute the bulletin.
January 2016 revision, superseding the June 2008 revision. BMW limits the E90/E91 93EB bulletin to vehicles produced between 2005-08-31 and 2006-04-26. The procedure checks the TCU-to-MRS harness for open/short faults first; repair the circuit when faulty, otherwise replace MRS. The bulletin does not supply a stop-driving classification, so WrenchGuide does not invent one.
Open official source →BMW SIB B18 03 10 — Diesel particulate filter regeneration
BMW of North America, LLC
BMW technical service bulletin for diesel-particulate-filter regeneration, including E90 335d/M57Y fault codes 480A and 481A, their progression, pre-regeneration checks and documented temperature conditions.
Copyright BMW of North America, Inc. Public NHTSA-hosted copy; link only and do not mirror or redistribute the bulletin.
February 2017 revision. BMW assigns 480A/481A to the M57Y engine used by the in-scope E90 335d and separately assigns 245700/245800 to N47T/N57T. Forced regeneration is only enabled when the relevant DPF faults are currently not present and BMW's documented temperature/fuel/fault-memory conditions are satisfied.
Open official source →BMW SIB B18 01 17 — Diesel particulate filter cleaning
BMW of North America, LLC
BMW technical service bulletin for soot-clogged diesel particulate filters when regeneration cannot be initiated, including the E90 335d/M57Y 480A/481A diagnostic branch and prerequisite root-cause checks.
Copyright BMW of North America, Inc. Public NHTSA-hosted copy; link only and do not mirror or redistribute the bulletin.
February 2017 bulletin. BMW explicitly states that increased DPF loading is an effect rather than a root cause and requires relevant air/fuel/cooling/EGR/boost/vacuum issues to be eliminated first. Chemical cleaning is a later branch for soot loading and BMW warns it may only be performed once because repeated cleaning can damage the filter ceramics.
Open official source →BMW SIB B12 07 12 — S65 engine coolant temperature sensor fault 2AF9
BMW of North America, LLC
BMW technical service bulletin for E90/E92/E93 M3 vehicles with the S65 engine and DME fault 2AF9, documenting emergency-program, performance and rough-idle complaints plus the sensor/connector cause and BMW correction path.
Copyright BMW of North America, Inc. Public NHTSA-hosted copy; link only and do not mirror or redistribute the bulletin.
April 2012 BMW bulletin. The source limits this repair path to E90/E92/E93 M3 with S65. BMW lists either an internal coolant-temperature-sensor fault or a sporadic connector problem caused by vibration-induced movement, and its correction pairs sensor replacement with the specified harness repair kit.
Open official source →BMW SIB B12 16 11 — N55 failsafe / boost-pressure plausibility faults
BMW of North America, LLC
BMW technical service bulletin for N55 vehicles including E90/E92/E93 with SES illumination and reduced power / engine failsafe mode when DME fault 2C57 or 120308 is stored for boost-pressure-control plausibility too low. The bulletin provides a staged induction/vacuum troubleshooting path and explicitly warns against replacing the turbochargers from this fault path alone.
Copyright BMW of North America, Inc. Public NHTSA-hosted copy; link only and do not mirror or redistribute the bulletin.
March 2013 revision superseding the August 2011 bulletin. BMW instructs technicians to diagnose other stored DME faults first, then use the applicable boost-fault test plan and inspect induction/vacuum-control causes if needed. The bulletin references a separate B121611_N55_Vacuum_Values attachment; WrenchGuide does not publish any numeric vacuum target until that attachment is separately reviewed.
Open official source →BMW SIB B11 03 14 — E90 335d/M57Y diesel intake carbon cleaning
BMW of North America, LLC
BMW technical service bulletin for E90 335d vehicles with the M57Y engine and a documented DDE fault-code profile including 3FF1 plus cylinder rough-controller faults 4595/459B/4592/4596/4593/459C, where BMW attributes the profile to excessive intake-system carbon buildup and specifies an intake-cleaning and post-repair adaptation path.
Copyright BMW of North America, Inc. Public NHTSA-hosted copy; link only and do not mirror or redistribute the bulletin.
November 2014 BMW revision, superseding the April 2014 bulletin. The carbon conclusion is source-bounded to the documented E90 335d/M57Y complaint and fault-code profile; it is not a generic interpretation of any one code in isolation. BMW directs intake-valve/manifold cleaning, requires DDE injector zero-mass adaptations to be cleared before the post-repair drive, and states that intake-manifold replacement is normally unnecessary unless required for another reason.
Open official source →BMW SI B13 04 14 — M57Y diesel fuel-injector zero-mass adaptation faults
BMW of North America, LLC
BMW service information for E90 335d/M57Y vehicles where injector zero-mass adaptation faults 4AD5/4AD6, 4AE5/4AE6, 4AF5/4AF6, 4B05/4B06, 4B15/4B16 or 4B25/4B26 are stored after intake carbon cleaning or extensive engine repair. BMW identifies incorrect DDE zero-mass-adaptation calibration and explicitly instructs technicians not to replace fuel injectors in this bulletin scenario.
Copyright BMW of North America, Inc. Public NHTSA-hosted copy; link only and do not mirror or redistribute the bulletin.
January 2015 revision superseding the October 2014 bulletin. The diagnosis is source-bounded to the documented post-carbon-cleaning or extensive-engine-repair condition. BMW's repair concept is programming followed by clearing the DDE crankshaft increment-wheel adaptation with approved battery support. Historical ISTA/P, ISTA Next and integration-level version targets in the 2015 bulletin are not presented as current repair instructions.
Open official source →BMW SIB B12 05 13 — Throttle adaptation faults in a defined 2013 production window
BMW of North America, LLC
BMW technical service bulletin for EML/reduced-power or flashing MIL complaints caused by throttle-valve sensor sensitivity during adaptation on listed N20/N26/N55/N63T/S63T vehicles produced from 2013-03-13 through 2013-04-18. It separates BN2000 codes used by E82/E84/E88/E89/E92/E93 from the later BN2020 code family.
Copyright BMW of North America, Inc. Public NHTSA-hosted copy; link only and do not mirror or redistribute the bulletin.
May 2013 BMW bulletin. The bulletin's software-version and interim throttle-valve-replacement instructions are historical service actions tied to its release date. WrenchGuide preserves the source diagnosis and production boundary but does not present the old ISTA/P release numbers or interim replacement step as current repair instructions.
Open official source →BMW SIB B12 07 06 — N52 map-thermostat fault 2EF4
BMW of North America, LLC
BMW service information for E90/E91 N52 vehicles with DME fault 2EF4 (Thermostat Map Cooling), including the insufficient-heating complaint, radiator temperature-delta check and the affected early BEHR thermostat production-date branch.
Copyright BMW of North America, Inc. Publicly accessible copy of the BMW bulletin; link only and do not mirror or redistribute it.
October 2009 revision. BMW limits the E90/E91 N52 path to vehicles produced through 03/2006. The E90 branch first compares engine-coolant and radiator-outlet temperatures after warm-up/idle; a delta below 20 °C follows the radiator branch, while a delta above 20 °C leads to the thermostat production-date check. The affected BEHR thermostat branch is limited to parts produced before 2005-11-25. The NHTSA bulk summary for SIB-12-07-06 contains a 23F4 token, but the underlying BMW bulletin identifies the DME fault as 2EF4; WrenchGuide therefore publishes 2EF4 and treats 23F4 as a source-bound mining false positive unless separate evidence appears.
Open official source →BMW SI B34 02 08 — Erroneous brake-pad replacement message / DSC 5DE0 and 5DE1
BMW of North America, LLC
BMW service information for E90/E91/E92/E93 vehicles from start of production through 09/2007 where the brake-pad indicator can illuminate even though pad replacement is not necessary and DSC faults 5DE0 and/or 5DE1 may be stored. BMW identifies a DSC software error and provides a CBS/test-plan/programming decision path.
Copyright BMW of North America, Inc. Public NHTSA-hosted copy; link only and do not mirror or redistribute the bulletin.
May 2013 revision superseding the February 2013 bulletin. BMW limits this path to E9x vehicles through 09/2007, states the cause is a DSC software error, directs a vehicle test and DSC test plan, and says CBS data in the nominal range of 100% or less follows the complete test plan while clearly erroneous data such as 255% leads to programming. The old ISTA/P target is historical; WrenchGuide does not present it as current tooling guidance and does not infer pad thickness or wear-sensor resistance values from this bulletin.
